East Men's Lax Cruises Past Northern Durham in the First Round of State Playoffs

East led by as many as twenty goals in a 23-6 victory over Northern Durham in their first-round playoff game. Ryan Lucey began the Wildcats' 10-0 run to start the game which included three of Lucey's five goals and six points (two goals, four assists) by Chandler Zirkle. Zirkle finished the game with ten assists and two goals, and Lucey also recorded two assists in the game. When asked how he felt about the team's performance in the first round of state playoffs, Lucey said, "I thought we played well, but it wasn't much of a game so it's really hard to judge our performance." Jackson Boyer scored four goals and an assist and Ryan Dotson had three goals and an assist. Leo Moran and Baxter Perkins each found the net twice and each assisted on three other goals. Steven Augustine once again was a huge factor for East's success on face-offs as the won 22 of 29 attempts in the game. Augustine also helped the Wildcats' offensive outburst with two goals and an assist. Collin Elledge, Connor Debussey, and Nick DeCastro also scored for the Wildcats. East will play their second round game at home against Athens Drive on Tuesday, May 3rd at 7:00.

East Women's Track and Field Runners-Up in PAC-6 Conference Tournament, Boys Finish Fifth

East Women's track and field came close but was unable to win the PAC-6 Conference Tournament title for a second year in a row. The Men's team finished fifth, but was able to win events including shot put and discus, both won by senior Clark Cunningham (47'11", 155'4", respectively), and pole vault won by sophomore Jesse Mechanic (11'6").

East Women's Soccer Uses 9-Goal Half To Defeat Northern

East Chapel Hill was led by senior Farrell Sweeney's hat-trick in a 10-0 win over Northern Durham on senior night. Sweeney said after the game, "Tonight was a good win for the team. It will really help boost our confidence going into the next three conference games. Our current goal is to win conference and as long as we play hard enough every game, I believe we have a great chance." East took a total of thirty shots in the game, including twenty-five in the first half, to overwhelm Northern, which only managed two shots in the game. Senior Ines Blaesius started off the onslaught by scoring in the second minute of the game and recording another goal and three assists in the nine-goal first-half. Senior MJ Lyonnais scored a goal to finish off the senior scoring for the game. Sophomore Abbey Underwood and freshman Lauren Douglass each scored two goals and recorded an assist for the Wildcats. Farrell Sweeney, freshman Riley Foster, and freshman Blakeney Blair combined for the shut-out in goal. When Sweeney was asked how she felt about playing goalie she said, "Coach K really felt that my quickness and athleticism would help at the goalie position tonight, so I went out there and saved the only shot I faced." East will play their next game at Southern High School on Thursday at 5:00.

East Men's Lax Pummels Millbrook on Senior Night

Seniors Ryan Lucey and Chandler Zirkle made the most against Millbrook High School in their last regular season home game at East Chapel Hill. Lucey had six points in the game and scored all five of the his goals in the first half, and Zirkle recorded five assists in the game en route to a 9-0 half time lead that eventually became a final of 13-1. Lucey became East Chapel Hill's all-time leading goal-scorer during the game and Zirkle became the all-time assist leader. After the game Lucey had this to say about the accomplishment: "It feels good, but what I really want is a state championship... Lacrosse is a team sport; personal accolades are cute and all, but what really matters is how the team does." Senior Steven Augustine had three goals and an assist along with the continuing of his dominant performance at the center circle by winning most of the teams sixteen face-off victories (out of 18). Senior goalie Ben Krichman and junior goalie Levi Brown combined to allow only one goal in the game. Sophomore Jackson Boyer had two goals and an assist in the game and fell down about midway through the second quarter with an apparent upper-body injury but would return in the second half. Sophomore Baxter Perkins tallied a goal and an assist for the Wildcats. Senior Collin Elledge and sophomore Garrett Finn also scored for East and sophomore William McEntee had an assist. William McEntee commented on the team's performance in the game saying, "We came out to win and tonight we were the better team. We're just trying to take it one game at a time and get geared up for state playoffs. It is what it is." The Wildcats will play at home this Friday against a team to be determined to start off their 2011 state-playoff campaign.

East Men's Golf Team Wins PAC-6 Conference Championship

Freshman standout Ben Griffin shot a 36 at Hillendale Golf Course in Durham to lead East Chapel Hill to a PAC-6 Conference Championship. Josh Fried and Kenya Inoue both shot a 38, Drew Davis a 44, and Neil Colvin and Brian Smith finished with 46s.

Welcome to AMC Broadcasting's page, home of East Chapel Hill's Athletic information. This blog post will give you a heads-up on this week's schedule for East's athletics. On Monday night, you can come out to the men's lacrosse team's senior night game against Millbrook High School. East is coming off a big win against previously 3rd ranked Wilmington Hoggard High School in exciting overtime battle at home last Thursday. The game is set to start at 7:00. On Tuesday, the men's golf team will be taking on Hillside High School and will be an away match starting at 3:30. Also on Tuesday, the women's soccer team will be taking on Northern High School in a game brought to you by AMC Broadcasting. They are closing on yet another conference title and can use all the support they can get. Kick-off set for 6:30. On Wednesday, the baseball team will be taking on Leesville Road High School and the softball team will play NCSSM. Both of the games are at home and start at 4:30 and 5:00, respectively. Wednesday is also a big day for PAC-6 Conference tournaments for both the track and field and the tennis team. The track and field's first half of the conference tournament will be held at Riverside High School with a starting time TBA and this year's tennis tournament will be hosted by East Chapel Hill High School and is schedule to start at 1:00. On Thursday the second half of the PAC-6 tournament for track and field will happen again at Riverside High School and the women's soccer team will play at Southern High School at 5:00. Friday looks to be the best day for sports this week with a couple of state playoff games headed your way. Both the men's and women's lacrosse teams will have home games for the first round as they look to begin deep runs into the playoffs. Times for these playoff games TBA. Also on Friday the softball and baseball teams will be playing Northern High School  at home with both games set to start at 4:30.
