After trading off touchdowns with Jordan on the first two possessions of the game, East settled down an was able to play better on defense throughout the rest of the game. East started the offensive scoring quickly with 21 points in the first quarter, and was able to hold onto a halftime lead of 28-27 after senior Andrew Moore blocked a PAT. Moore led the way on defense and special teams with two blocked PATs and an interception return for a touchdown. After taking a 35-27 lead on Moore's touchdown, Jordan responded with a kickoff return for a touchdown and tied the game with a successful two-point conversion. Moore and the rest of the defense would then play it's best defense of the night for the rest of the game. After causing a roughing the kicker penalty which gave Jordan a first down, Moore pressured Jordan's quarterback that resulted in a hurried pass which junior LaPerry Ward returned 65 yards for a touchdown. East scored three straight touchdowns taking a 55-35 lead and would never let Jordan within 12 the rest of the game. This was East's first victory since defeating Northwood in last year's season opener, which was the first game under Coach Bill Renner's current tenure.
